(Colonial Heights VA) Make Mine Pink is not only a completely women owned and operated shopping web site, but a unique networking and support group of and for women at every stage of business. In an effort to expand our services to women following their bliss, we are hosting our first annual “Getting Down To Business” Retreat in Historic Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia on September 19-21, 2008.
www.MakeMinePink.com
is more than a place to shop. For the e-boutique owners and forum members, it is an online women’s coffee klatch, a support group for new entrepreneurs as well as a group of close knit friends who share in each others’ triumphs and trials. It is a network of more than 100 boutique owners and 800 plus forum members who know where to go for fun, shopping, friendship and support.
Founded in 2004 by Joyce Lucas, after she navigated her way through the internet to open an online boutique, her purpose was to help other women get their online business off the ground and encourage camaraderie. Today Lucas, one of the 2008 Country Living Women Entrepreneur honorees, has unified a like-minded group women who all believe in the same business values and are willing to welcome, mentor and help build a circle of friendship. That is a huge accomplishment in this World Wide Web.
At Make Mine Pink you will find romantic home décor, cherished needlepoint pillows, design services, vintage china and tea sets, as well as expertly hand crafted home and fashion accessories.
Each boutique is individually owned and operated which creates an uncommon one of a kind shopping experience. Still one of the main advantages MakeMinePink.com offers is friendship and support for businesswomen who have similar interests and goals. In one year Make Mine Pink has grown from 200 members to 800 members - a testament to hard work, strong ethics and an amazing group of women that genuinely care about each other’s success, Make Mine Pink takes networking to a whole new level.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a lecture given by Marianne Fons of “fons and Porter”, in Lancaster Pennsylvania in May and stupid me forgot my camera!!. Besides having a great time visiting Shady Maple and a few of the local quilt shops in Lancaster, I enjoyed the lecture the most. The presentation by Marianne Fons was called, ” Why we Quilt” The highlight of the lecture was about charity quilting and a brief history of quilting through the years. At the end Marianne spoke of The International Quilt study center and museum in Lincoln Nebraska, Now here’s a place I have put on my travel itinerary as A ‘must visit”. You can read about it here at:

One-Block Wonders: One Fabric, One Shape, One-of-a-Kind Quilts
I recently attended a class for the One block Wonders , what a amazing quilt! I strongly recomend taking a class for this because the cutting and the pinning are a little more challenging here, but once you are past the cutting and pinning and you start sewing you will find you can’t stop! It’s addictive! No two quilts will come out the same and that’s what makes it so unique, Once you learn the technique you will be making these again and again. Important, the pinning is the really the most critical aspect. To achieve the best results you must have first the book,One-Block Wonders: One Fabric, One Shape, One-of-a-Kind Quilts and a rotary cutter with a new blade, the 60 degree equilateral triange with ,( very important) the 3 3/4 inch mark on it. You will need 5 to 6 yards of one fabric and the fabric must have a 24 inch repeat and that’s basically all you need , and of course pins! I found that you need your regular pins with colored heads and flower head pins.
Enjoy! Don’t forget, if you make one please post a picture for us to see!
